Hi,
My computer seems to be down with the Gaobot virus. I
have downloaded the removal utility from Symantec and
tried to remove the virus in many ways but to no avail.
If I remove it while in the safe mode, I get a message
saying that there is no virus on the computer. However,
as soon as I reboot in the normal mode and run the tool
again, I get a message to the effect that the virus has
been removed from the computer.
I have tried to run the removal on all combos of startup.
Normal followed by normal, normal followed by safe etc
etc. I am at my wit's end and have no clue as to how to
get rid of this pesky guy.
I know it is still there since I cannot use programs like
regedit or msconfig when in the normal mode as these
quietly shut down without so much as a whimper.
Kindly help,
Confused & confounded,
Rajesh
