Any free tools or great debuggers for beginners to download ?
Roger, if you happen to have microsoft office installed (ofc2k
or later), you might consider "Microsoft Script Editor" (mse.exe).
It is a very capable editor, with syntax colorization, "hinting"
(a.k.a. "intellisense"), and debugging.
However, it was designed to work with office and doesn't work
quite right for standalone scripts, right "out-of-the-box".
Certain adjustments have to be made.
The good news is that all these adjustments have already been
documented here, in previous postings. Go to google adv group
search:
http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search
and search this ng for "mse.exe".
Note that there is a debugger available for downloading from
the microsoft scripting site, but that has received negative
comments here, and mse works better.
cheers, jw
