Scripts for uploading/downloading and zipping/unzipping folders

I need a few sample scripts for the following tasks:
- to upload a folder via ftp
- to zip and upload a folder via ftp
- to upload a file via ftp
- to unzip and download a folder via ftp
- to download a file via ftp
- to schedule a script
It's quite urgent and any help would highly be appreciated.
