You just ensure that it accepts command line args. Then you can drag a
file to the script and it acts as a command line arg, only from the
gui. I have used it sometimes so that others can easily pass arguments
to the script, but I usually just give them an hta and have them browse
to a file.
Still waiting on answers to the above questions to help with the
original problem.
