What we do is to have the user cache his domain password on the computer by
logging into it against his domain account while it is physically connected
to the network. He then logs on to his domain account in order to establish
his VPN session, rather than using an account local to the workstation setup
for the purpose.
Alternately, the user could logout, leaving the vpn connection open, then
log in again exactly as if he were connected to the network.
