Hi
Well, I and all other MVPs doesn't earn a living from Microsoft (but
many of us earn a living working with Microsoft products, but that is
another story).
Anyway, I can tell you, many MVPs have bashed Microsoft hard in the
private MVP groups (that are available for MVPs and Microsoft
personnel) for the new text format (charset="Utf-8") that was
introduced in the newest public WebNews version, because it doesn't
comply with existing standards. I think the reason for using it was to
support foreign languages character sets. There is a new version of
WebNews in the works, so lets hope that more correct decisions will be
taken there, based on input from MVPs and others.
But it would not hurt that others also speaked up about this, so feel
free to send your view on this issue to Microsoft, using e.g. this
input channel (select "Other" as product):
