shift+click and cntrl + click in IE 7

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

in IE 6 shift key + click will open link in new window.
in IE 7 cntrl key + click also opens lin in new window.

I got a page which uses combination of control key + click to select custom
stuff in GUI which uses <a> tag only.
With IE 7 it opens new window.
Is it possible to cancel IE default behaviour from script by canceling
events some way...
