PS. You are using vbscript - why post this in a jscript group?

Well, there are two answers:
1) I would prefer to use jscript, but when I tried to convert
the vbscript to jscript, the code failed dismally...

Since JScript is a natively supported ASP language, there is really no
reason not to post in microsoft.public.inetserver.asp.general. I can
assure
you there is room for JScript over there.

Do you think (as I am also beginning to think) that it is not
worth the candle of trying to use global.asa?

I find it useful, if only for TYPELIB declarations.

Agreed. That's all I ever use it for. :)
