The important thing is that these newsgroups are provided by Microsoft and
they don't require either top-posting or bottom-posting. The comment "please
do not toppost on usenet" implies that these newsgroups are provided by
usenet but not Microsoft.

It is my understanding that words such as "stupid" are a violation of both
Usenet and Microsoft policies.

I agree however that it can get very complicated if a combination of
top-posting and bottom-posting are used in the same reply. I try to use
whichever has already been used in the discussion. It would help to have a
convention that everyone complies with. It is my understanding that people
accustomed to non-Microsoft software prefer bottom-posting because that is
how non-Microsoft software works. Microsoft software, however, favors
top-posting.
