Authentication

In a common domain, I am having an authentication issue with a remote
system. Our SQL 2000 server resides on a Win 2003 server machine.
Currently, my remote users are connecting via MS Access 2k front end
running from their local Win XP machines and are accessing based on
their domain login using NT Authentication, use and function are fine
with domain credentials.
The remote system (Cold Fusion) that is failing to connect has been
given a SQL Server login, which fails. In testing the connection, my
remote associate is unable to connect to the SQL server unless he has
first established a connection (to a share for instance) using his
domain login credentials. Security is set to mixed, and RPC is
permitted for remote linked servers (though I'm not certain this is
required for the cold fusion connection, no linked server has been
built). The remote system is intended to read a read-only view into a
web interface.
So, as my normal users do not have access problems while authenticating
with their domain credentials, the system requiring sql login access
does. At this point, I don't know if I have missed something in SQL
Server or if there is a domain issue, and am hoping someone may be able
to provide insight.
Thanks, All.
