Really Slow - Business Intelligence Dev Studio

Hi, I'm having issues running the SQL server business dev studio to run
some import packages.
The performance of the application is extrmely slow, to the point where
it's almost unusable.
Every operation from opening the app, to opening a project and then
opening a package takes around a minute each time.
The processors are doing nothing, but the app is totally unresponsive.
It does seem to come up with some errors every now and then, such as
Failed to open project
(Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.VsIntegration)
and lots of others saying 'cannot detach from process' with more detail
suggesting the files I'm accessing have been disconnected from it's
clients.
However if I persist and ignores these it then eventually works...?
My collegue who connects with the app running from his local machine
has nor problems.
Any suggestions, should I try and reinstall the Integration services,
or which part of SQL server?
