Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

When using an app that runs an sql backend i recieve the following
message...

"unable to load sql server oledb provider resource dll. The application
cannot continue"

i am unsure of how to go about troubleshooting this error and would
like some more info on it.

i'm running xpsp1 and have tried reinstalling mdac 2.8

i'd like to resolve this problem without resorting to an xpsp2 upgrade

i've run the component checker for mdac and there are a couple of file
versions which are different, should i hunt down and register the
correct versions or is there a better way?

what are my other options, what else can i check, what is my next step
in troubleshooting???

ANY assistance greatly appreciated, if you require more info please let
me know what i can clear up...
