Too many possibilities and not enough data. Did you look at SQL Server
processes before rebooting to see if there were any errant processes or
jobs running? Did you try "rebooting" SQL Server before rebooting the OS?

My guess is that the indexes did it. Drop them and run the task. If it
goes back to 14 hours, you'll know what you did. If not, hope that the
problem won't reappear.
