Clara,
It looks like you may not have selected the "Workstation components, Books
Online and Development Tools" when you installed SQL Server. If that is the
case, just follow the instructions at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913967
Of course, on a desktop you can install those tools, which include
Management Studio, without installing the SQL Server engine.
