Erland: thanks for your reply. We do have a firewall, but it has never
prevented us from doing downloads of this sort -- we do it from
Microsoft all the time. As I said, I didn't seem to have any problems
saving the file to my own machine. Is there some efficient way of
contacting Microsoft on this to verify that the file is good?
I would try download the file from other computer, possibly outside the
firewall. Maybe there is a proxy with some crap in the cache.
Some time back I tried to download a CTP of SQL 2008, and for various
reason I downloaded it from one computer to a disk on a second. I got
a bad archive. Next I downloaded to local disk, and then copied over
to the machine where I wanted it. Still broken. Finally I put the file
on a DVD and that worked. So in that case my network at home managed
to corrupt the file.
