Unfortunately, it falls a little short: 1) If you want to replace a file in the window, you have to CTRL-SHIFT-Delete to clear the window 2) More annoying: there's no recent file list for Insert File as Text (nor do the files you open this way go on the recent file list) 3) I haven't found an option to turn off the prompt to save files when you close SSMS. I'm just venting my frustration with the SQL 2005 tools. I know you were just trying to make a helpful suggestion.
