Dear All,
I've tried installing Report Services Developer Edition on a Windows 2000
Server, running SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition as a named instance, which
is running under a domain user account. I've gone through every piece of
information I can find on installation and the set up has passed all the
pre-installation checks I've found listed. It just won't install! I don't
get an error back, just a rollback of the installation and the "... has
encountered a problem" dialogue.
The preparing To Install doc states under "Choosing a Named Instance" quote:
"In some case, Setup will return an error that a local account does not have
network access. this error can occur if you install Reporting Services on
Windows XP or Windows 200, and the local SQL Server is a named instance. When
checking for a local SQL Server instance, Setup compares the computer name to
the instance name. If the names do not match, Setup assumes that the SQL
Server is not local."
The doc also states that if you use a remote SQL Server, it can't be running
under a domain account....
The question: Has anybody out there got Reporting Services to install on
Windows 2000, named SQL Server instance, domain user account?
thanks for your time.
