Sql Reporting Services Sub Report Problem

I'm having a problem with a sub report of mine. I have a main report that gives me summary information and I am trying to (on a row level within the main report) call a sub report to get me specific data with parameters from the current row that I am on. This process works fine just calling the sub report and passing it values, but when I want to get that data back from the sub report and then use that value in conjunction with a value from my main report to perform a calculation, I cannot extract that value or reference it from the main report. Is there any way to get around this or do this? Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.
