This could be, but I can’t understand why the notification service could
have
been started in the first place if there were two different versions of
SQL
server.

Is there any way to downgrade the Enterprise server to Standard?

My guess is that you have two active SQL Server instances (and
notification
services) and one of them is Standard Edition and the other one is
Enterprise Edition.

I am asking because we had a notification service running for 3 months,
the
other day we had to fail over out cluster so the service stopped and
tried
to
start on the other node, But it wouldn’t start. We received the

event log. The only changes to the server have been patches and
service
packs. And as I said the service was running fine for months.
