Re: Installing SP4 on SQL 2000

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

I'm not using developer edition for production purposes. It is my own
project, I am and will only be the only user, it is not deployed externally
in any way. I'm using the product as a development tool, for my own learning
(as I said I'm a SQL Server newbie), there is no commercial dimension to my
project.

I'm sure SQL 2000 will work fine (and legitimately) for my purposes, but
thanks for your concern.

Hi David,

I have a developer edition which is
paid for and it has virtually no limit as to the size my db can grow.

You aren't allowed to use developer edition for production purposes. If you
do consider you are allowed to use that edition then the 2008 developer
edition is not expensive.

I'm once again confronted by the 2Gb limit

Raised to 4GB for 2005 onwards

I don't really feel inclined to indulge this never-ending upgrade path that
Microsoft wants to lead us all upon.

Well I'm with you there generally, but 2005 does have a number of worthwhile
improvements.

Sorry I've long since dumped 2000 so don't have any suggestions about SP4
