CK,
One workaround would be to set up a job manually and do some "Backup
database..." TSQL.
Not as comfortable as with a maintenance plan but will do the job as well...

I got 100% same problem!.
The ability to create and edit a maintenance plan is available through SQL
Server Management Studio and there are no errors when I create such a plan.
However, when I try to run the plan an error is logged

installed by one of these editions of SQL Server 2008: Standard, Enterprise,
Developer, or Evaluation. To install Integration Services, run SQL Server
Setup and select Integration Services. The package execution failed. The

Hope someone got a workaround so we dont need to install integration service
Automated daily backup must be part of the product,
i know ot works on SQL2005 SP2

Hi all,
After installing sql 2008 Ent. on x64 (only db server engine and
management
studio) I set up a maintenance plan for backing up the db's.
Plan/Job is created but job does not execute. Gives the following error:
SQL Server Execute Package Utility Version 10.0.1600.22 for 64-bit
Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp 1984-2005. All rights reserved. The SQL
Server Execute Package Utility requires Integration Services to be
installed
by one of these editions of SQL Server 2008: Standard, Enterprise,
Developer,
or Evaluation. To install Integration Services, run SQL Server Setup and
select Integration Services. The package execution failed. The step
failed.
Remember having the same problem with early versions of sql 2005.
Installing
integration service is not a option!
Is there a workaround ?
TIA
