It never ceases to amaze me that MS continues to miss opportunities to enforce licenses and, thus, generate more revenue. Look at Windows Server 2003 Per User TSCALs for another huge hole....

The server is a dual Xeon computer. We have purchased 2 "Per CPU" licenses. The current installation is, I believe, a "Per Seat" license.
I've installed the software on a test server and it automatically fills in the license # (from the CD?). I'm curious as to how the second license will get installed? I'm assuming that I will get another license, not a new media. Is that correct? How does the server get SQL2005 installed and know that I have 2 Per CPU licenses??
