Is there a separate SP2 upgrade for each of the SQL Server 2005 editions, or
does the same Service Pack work for all the editions? And is this "SQL
Server 2005 Service Pack 2" necessary for SQL Server 2005 editions installed
on PC's running XP?

It's not about the features, it's about the licensing policy thing. So
yes, they can be installed on the XP and Vista.

If it's Vista, then you need to apply SP2 to prevent some known issues.

Hi,

What Edition of SQL Server 2005 are you trying to install?

If it's not the Enterprise Edition, then ensure it's not UAC which
hinders you to install SQL Server. If non of them then you better post
the Error Log of the Setup.

P.S.
You can't install a SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition on Windows XP or
Vista.
