In addition, Analysis Services is available for Standard Edition as well
(and developer edition, of course, but you wouldn't put developer on your
production boxes, would you? ) if you are considering licensing costs

Hello Dan,
Analysis Services is a feature available with SQL Server Enterprise
Edition and yes, it's a matter selecting a checkbox during SQL Server
Setup (in the Components to Install window exactly)
You need Windows' s following versions and editions to install SQL Server
2005 Enterprise Edition:
Microsoft Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack (SP) 4 or later; Windows
Server 2003 Standard Edition, Enterprise Edition, or Datacenter Edition
with SP 1 or later; Windows Small Business Server 2003 with SP 1 or later
To learn more about the requirements of SQL Server 2005 Enterprise
Edition, go to the following link:

Services"
What is neccessary to do "analysis Services" is this just a matter of
selecting sometine during install or must something be purchased to
support
this ?
also in order to run "Enterprise" edition what underlying version of
Windows server do you ahve to have or doesit it matter ?
thanks
