I'm not Ekrem, but...
We don't use the Active/Active and Active/Passive in the SQL Server world, because it is confusing and misleading. If you can explain what you mean by "Active/Active" then we can answer your question.
You can install several SQL Server instances in a cluster. Each instance is installed over a set of nodes (machines) in the cluster. A certain instance only executes on one node at a particular point in time, but can fail over to some other node. A particular node can at a certain point in time execute from zero to several instances.
So, we use the terms "number of nodes (machines)" and "number of SQL Server instances".
