Re: replacing SQL Server 2005 Mgmt Studio Express

Yep, uninstall SSMSE and then start SQL Server 2005 setup from your media and from the Components to Install window, click Advanced... button and from the Client Tools, check Management Tools. SSMS and other some tools are in it.

Note:
It' ll arise a warning and will say "This stuff is not enough to install, choose something else and then continue installing bla bla..." then you may have to install a false instance and then delete it or install another service or something. This freaks me out too... I hope someone else pops up and says "there is another way!" so that i'll be found it out as well. However, this is kinda workaround.

Hello:

A client has SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition. It's a long story, but the
SQL Server 2005 Management Studio is the express edition studio.

So, trust me. They have "full blown" SQL 2005. It's just that their Studio
is Express Edition.

We need to uninstall the Express Studio and replace it with the "full blown"
version of the Studio. Without the full blown version, the client cannot
create SQL jobs.

How is this done? Do we uninstall the Studio through Add/Remove Programs?
Where on the SQL Server 2005 CD can we install the full blown Studio?

Thanks!
