Re: Installed VS 2005 want to Manage SQL 2005 Server

So I did the SKUUPGRADE=1 as a parameter to Setup.exe inthe tools folder.
It went through with the install of the Tools.
Though the thing that concerns me is that the version went from 9.2.3042.00 to 9.0.3042.00.
I did reapply SP1 for Visual Studio and SP2 for SQL (in that order) and it still shows 9.0.3042.00 for the SQL Management Studio.
My Concern is that I might be missing something?
Thanks,

Dear Scott,
Thank you for posting back.
According to the information in your last post, it appears that the issue
is that the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Tools Express Edition has already
been installed on the machine and causes the version conflict issue.
We can try to manually remove the Client Tools for Microsoft SQL Server
2005 Express Edition and then install the SQL Server Management tools
again. To do so, please refer to the following steps:
1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
3. In the list of installed programs, click Microsoft SQL Server 2005, and
then click Change.
4. On the Component Selection page, select Workstation components, and then
click Next.
5. Click Next.
6. On the Change or Remove Instance page, click Change Installed
Components.
7. Click Client Components, and then select Entire Feature will be
Unavailable.
8. Click Next.
9. Click Install.
After that, please rerun the setup wizard and then check if the SQL Server
Client tools are able to install on the system.

| Okay so I found the Tools Folder on a Physical Disk. I Guess I didn't
copy
| it to the Install Source on the Server.
|
| I run the Setup and it says there is an Edition Conflict and to run setup
| from a command prompt and use the switch:
| - Edition Change Check (Warning)
| Messages
| Edition Change Check
|
| To change an existing instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 to a
different
| edition of SQL Server 2005, you must run SQL Server 2005 Setup from the
| command prompt and include the SKUUPGRADE=1 parameter.
|
|
|
| There is a 'Next' Button so I continued. I then got the Following:
| The Following Components that you chose to install are already installed
| onthe machine. To vire a report of available options and alternatives
click
| Details.
|
| Then there is a greyed out like that reads:
| workstation components, books online and development tools 9.2.3042.00
|
| Clicking Details gives me:
|
| Name: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Tools Express Edition
| Reason: Your upgrade is blocked. For more information about upgrade
support,
| see the "Version and Edition Upgrades" and "Hardware and Software
| Requirements" topics in SQL Server 2005 Setup Help or SQL Server 2005
Books
| Online.
|
| Build version check:
| Your upgrade is blocked because the existing component is a later version
| than the version you are trying to upgrade to. To modify an existing SQL
| Server component, go to Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel, select
the
| component you would like to modify, and then click Change/Remove.
|
| So I'll attempt the SKUUPGRADE=1 option
