Dear Scott,
Thank you for posting here.
From the problem description of the post you submitted, my understandingis: You would like to install the SQL Server Management tools on the Visual
Studio 2005 Development machine but received an "Edition Version Conflict"
message. If I have misunderstood about your concern, feel free to let me
know.
Based on my experience and test, I am able to install the SQL Server
Management tools on the machine with VS 2005 SP1 installed. My test process
was as following:
1. Install the Visual Studio 2005 on my test server
2. Install the Service Pack 1 for Visual Studio 2005
3. Run the following setup file to install Client tools for SQL Server 2005
only:
<SQL Server setup source or CD/DVD>\Tools\setup.exe
4. Select all the client tools (include Management tools) for SQL Server
2005 in the installation wizard
5. The installation can be completed successfully.
Please check my steps and compare with yours to see if there are some
hints. If the error message still occurs, please help me to capture a
screenshot.
How to capture a Screenshot:
----------------------
1. When the error appears, please press the Print Screen key (PrtScn) on
your keyboard.
2. Click Start, click Run, type MSPAINT, and click OK.
3. In Paint, click Paste under the Edit Menu, click Save under the File
menu, type a file name for the snap shot, choose JPEG as "Save as type",
click "Desktop" on the left pane, and click Save.
4. Please find the screenshot on the Desktop and send it as an attachment
to: v-adamqu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
At the same time, let's also test if we are able to install the Microsoft
SQL Server Management Studio (Express) tool individually on the development
machine. It can be downloaded from the following download link:

If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to let me
know.
Have a nice day!

| So I have a Development machine that I have installed Visual Studio 2005
on
| and SP1, The Dev Environment works great and I have been Terminal Serving
to
| my SQL 2005 Server to do Administration. It would be real handy to
install
| the SQL 2005 Management tools on the VS2005 Development machine.
|
| When I go to do the Managment tools install, it complains that I have an
| Edition Version Conflict.
|
| What are my options?
|
| Thanks,
| Scott<-
