Re: SQL Server installation problem with Vista

Hi,
I uninstalled EE, then installed DE. When I attempt to install
database services I get this error:
Product : SQL Server Database Services
Error : SQL Server Setup failed to execute a command for
server configuration. The error was [Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL
Server]MODIFY FILE failed. Specified size is less than current size..
Refer to the server error logs and Setup logs for detailed error
information.
looking through the log files I also found this error:
Error: Action "LaunchPatchedBootstrapAction" threw an exception during
execution. Error information reported during run:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\setup.exe"
finished and returned: 5039
I am guessing that my uninstall was incomplete. What could I have
missed?
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,.
Thanks for your post.
From your description, I understand that:After you installed SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition, you found that
there were no SQL Server Services and SQL Server Agent Services on your
Windows Vista system.
If I have misunderstood, please let me know.
The problem is that SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition is not supported on
any version of Windows Vista series. You may install SQL Server 2005
Standard Edition or Developer Edition on your Vista.
For more information, please refer to the section "Operating System
Requirements (32-Bit)" of this article:

Please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions or
concerns.
Have a nice day!
