I don't think the issue is that it came from an MSDN subscription. That is
what a lot of people are using in production every day. I suspect it was a
developer or trial edition. Regardless I would recommend a full uninstall
and reinstall anyway. That always gives the best chance that you won't have
any issues down the road in my experience. Just make sure you have good
backups.

I'm trying to upgrade an existing installation of SQL Server 2000 Ent. to
2005 Standard.
The installer will not complete the upgrade because the original
installation of 2000 came from an MSDN subscription.
Is there any way to overcome this, or do I have to uninstall SQL 2000 and
install SQL 2005 from scratch?
Any advice would be most welcome!
