Hi Marc,
You should find the file sqlncli.msi in your distribution CD/download. Run it separately (by double-clicking on it). Then try to install SQL Server Express.

Hi, I'm trying to install SQL Express 2005 on a Windows XP Pro.
computer... ran into MSI problems but fixed that with the help of some
other posts.
Now I am at least making it partially into the install, but I have run
into this problem now:
Machine : <machine name>
Product : SQL Native Client
Error : An installation package for the product Microsoft
SQL Server Native Client cannot be found. Try the installation again
using a valid copy of the installation package 'sqlncli.msi'.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Machine : <machine name>
Product : Microsoft SQL Server Native Client
Product Version : 9.00.3042.00
Install : Failed
Log File : c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup
Bootstrap\LOG\Files\SQLSetup0007_SCDESKTOP1_SQLNCLI_1.log
Last Action : InstallFinalize
Error String : An installation package for the product Microsoft
SQL Server Native Client cannot be found. Try the installation again
using a valid copy of the installation package 'sqlncli.msi'.
Error Number : 1706
I'm not really sure what to do about this -- is sqlncli.msi a file I
should/can download separately?
Thanks,
Marc
