two NICs, SQL2000 and SQL2005 on the same machine
At the moment, we have SQL2000 Standard Edition running as the only
instance (it is a named instance) on the server, with one of the two
NICs disabled. If we enable the second NIC, and then create a SQL2005
named instance, will both named instances listen on both NICs by
default, and will the SQL2005 instance automatically select a port to
listen on that does not conflict with SQL2000? The NICs would be
independent, not "teamed".
Thanks
