If you are running the SQL Server service under a domain login try switching it to the Local System account. Also look at my later thread about "MSSQL SP2: Failure: How to Troubleshoot with the Log"

I'm getting that same error. Please let me know if you find a solution.

I'm doing a local install (no network drives involved) and even tried copying the sqlsupport.msi file it's complaining about manually, but to no avail.

I'm trying to install SQL Server SP2 on a SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition.

I've disable the Virus Software and Disabled the various SQL Server Services
without any success.

Any suggestion on the cause of this error?
