Using the /3GB switch will allow the SQL Server to access memory past
2GB -up to 3GB. That will leave only 1 GB for the OS and IIS.

If this is a low use IIS box, that may be fine.

You need to determine the priority of usage -SQL Server or IIS. You would be
wish to test with and without the /3GB switch.

Dell PowerEdge server with 4GB RAM running Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard
Edition. I am going to install SQL 2000 Server on this machine. Is it
necessary to put the /3gb switch in boot.ini? Any other recommendations?
Btw, this server will be a dedicated SQL 2000 and IIS server, that's it.
