That's a WMI (Windows Management Interface) error. See if this helps:

Hi. I have WinXP Pro SP2, VS 2005 Pro. I tried installing SQL 2005
express
through VS 2005, but it failed. The error log showed:

I tried downloading The SQL 2005 Express (as well as the developer
Advanced
version). Both get to the same point. License agreement, then installing
additional components (native client and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup
Support Files). Says they were both installed successfully. I click Next,
it
says 'System Configuration Check' and is scanning my computer's
configuration, then an error message pops up and says "The SQL Server
System
Configuration Checker cannot be executed due to WMI configuration on the
machine MYLAPTOPNAME Error:2147749896 (0x80041008)." I click OK and setup
exits. This happens consistently with the exact same message no matter
how
many times I try. I tried turning Windows Firewall off, but same results.
help!?!?
