You can run the SQL service under a domain user account that has local admin
rights. If you don't want to do this, there is a KB article that shows what
rights need configured for a domain user in order for SQL Server to function
properly. Once you do this, you can set the security on the NAS to allow
this domain user account permission to write to it.

Greetings,
I've got a small/big problem, which is the following.
Got a server running Windows 2003 server with SQL 2000 and would like to
backup my database to a NAS. I was able to configure the NAS to allow the
domain Administrator user to access it with the write and read
permissions.
My problem due the authentication that SQL uses is not the Windows user
I'm not able to do a backup to the NAS storage.
My idea and question. If I change the SQL service to run using the
administrator user will there be some conflicts with the SQL or database?
Or am I just not seeing the whole picture?
Any ideas?
Thanx in advance.
