Hi Dan,
Actually I am using sqleval.exe (180 day trial of the SQL server 2005). In
any case I tried what you suggested and added the /x to the command
paramaters. It prompted for a location and I selected the default
c:\sqleval. It went through the extracting package stage, followed by the
checking package integrity phase. It was during this that it failed with the
reason "There is not enough space on drive c:\ to extract this package".
However I have at least 10Gb free on drive c: Any ideas?

I assume you're trying to run sqlexpr.exe. If this is the case you can do a.
manual extraction by typing sqlexpr.exe /x. This will prompt you for a
location to extract to. Once it's extracted run setup.exe in the extracted
location.

Hi,
I have downloaded the trial edition of SQL Server 2005 (single exe
version)
and it fails to install with the following reason:
There is not enough space on drive c:\ to extract this package.
Now I have 13GB free on C:\ so this is confusing. I tried the following
three things to try and work around this.
A) I know there is a bug in the 2000 version due to having a multiple of
4GB
detailed at:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;301913
I thought this bug may still exist so I've tried to free up space and on
other occasions to use up some more space but to no avail.
B) I set the tmp and temp environment variables to point to d:\temp that
has
ample space (4Gb) but that didn't work either.
C) I made sure I uninstalled all prior sql server related programs and
tried
again to no avail.
So in the end I downloaded the DVD iso version extracted it to a DVD and
tried to install that. It seemed to install well and no error messages
appeared during the installation, so it all seemed good. But the files
for
the SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio did not get
installed. (The short cut was installed but the devnet.exe file that it
was
pointing to is missing). But this piece of software is precicely the one
that I want to try out and test!
Any help on either install issues:
1) Single Exe file - Extracting no space paradox
2) DVD setup files - Missing Development Studio executable after install
would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Michael
