Jamie,
I run SQL Server 2005 Dev Ed 64 bit on my development box - it upgraded to
SP1 fine - this did NOT install a new package file or modify anything with
the bootstrap SDK files as far as I can tell. And when you install the SQL
Express SP1 on a test box, there are no bootstrap or package files
installed.
From what I have been able to find out, the SQL group in MS gives the VS
group a different setup program - or at least they did for the initial
release of SQL Server Express (one was named sqlexpr32.exe the other just
sqlexpr.exe). So the question is - is there a new SP1 setup program with
associated package file for SQL Server Express SP1.
I would think Microsoft could answer that question but when I asked it in
the SQL Express forum the Microsoft guy told me I was in the wrong forum (go
figure).
Or - why can't Microsoft just put the new SP1 version of SQL Express at
the same link with the same file name as the original version - that way,
you wouldn't need a new package file or have to modify one and all the
existing setups would continue to work but would install the new version.
Thanks
Russ Stevens
