All considerations done seems to not consider a very important fact: THE
PERFORMANCE DECREASE DAMATICALLY ALSO WITH SQL 2000 IF YOU REINDEX ALL
THE TABLES! Why?
I have experienced the same thing with our database. This is a 13 GB
database with a lot of transactions.
I've installed SQL2005 in the same machine and attached the db File to
SQL2005 and the performance was poor.
Then I've installed SQL2000 (std.) + SQL2005 (64 bit version) in our new
server (IBM dual Xeon 3,0 GHz / Win2003 Ent. x64) with the same results.
This 2nd time I have recovered the Database from backup.
The 2000 was normal and 2005 very slow.
I think the reason lies in the index keys. As I think that when we
recover or attach a 8 version to a 9 database during the operation some
thing was rebuilded...
What do you think about?
Let me know please!
