Re: upgrade to 64-bit?

If the OS puts a program in the (x86) folder it is a 32-bit app. Select
@@version will also return (x86) in the result showing the 32-bit version.

DVD versions usually contain both versions, but I am not sure about the
Launch event DVD. If there is an AMD64 folder, then there is a 64-bit
version included.

32 and 64 bit retail SKUs have identical licensing and pricing restrictions
and are interchangable. I am not sure about the promotional version given
at the Launch events. I would contact Microsoft for information and
possible license fulfillment.

Hi, I have a server running Windows Server 2003 Standard x64 and a DVD
with SQL 2005 Standard I got for free at the product launch event, and
I tried installing it on the server, but it put everything in the
"Program Files (x86)" directory, so I'm wondering the following:

1. Is there any way I can tell if I'm installing the 32-bit or 64-bit
version? I couldn't find it anywhere on the physical media, the readme
files, the installer, the server properties, anything. I thought the
installer would give me an option of which to install but it didn't. I
assume it installed the 32-bit WOW version because it put it in
"Program Files (x86)"

2. Do the two versions (32-bit and 64-bit Standard) come on different
media, so if I have the 32-bit version I need to somehow acquire the
64-bit version?

3. If so, and I need to acquire the 64-bit version, where do I get it?
Microsoft says if you have a valid license for 32-bit you don't need to
pay for 64-bit, but can I just download it somewhere or do I have to
call Microsoft or what?

Thanks for your help,
Seth
