Re: Loading 2000 Standard DB into 2005 Workgroups?

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

It generally works just fine but as with any upgrade, run the upgrade
advisor to ensure you don't have any objects in your 2000 database that will
have problems in 2005 (eg. customer sprocs, xprocs, etc...).

Btw, you can just do an upgrade in place if you like. No need for multi-step
effort. See
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sql/2005/library/gettingstarted.mspx
for lots of good info on getting started with SS2K5.

Hi there,

We are currently using SQL Server 2000 Standard and would like to change
to
SQL Server 2005 Workgroup. Now I assume I backup the database, uninstall
2000, install 2005 Workgroup and then import the backup.

However, what I don't know is how well importing a database that was
created
in 2000 Standard will work. Anyone have any experience with this or
thoughts
on the subject?

Thanks,

Wes
