Cant uninstall SQL2005

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

I have a Win 2K3 box with SQL2005 and ISA 2000 SP2 (I know its not pretty
unfortunately the customer has pretty much forced this config - its not SBS
either by the way)

I've been told that SQL2005 will not co-exist with ISA 2000 so I am trying
to uninstall it to replace it with SQL2000 unfortunately I have hit a snag.

When I try and uninstall I get a Visual C++ error telling me that the the
runtime has been asked to terminate in an unsual way, I get the same message
if I try to run setup.exe from the SQL CD

Oddly I didnt get this error when running setup.exe to install SQL2005 in
the first place so I can only imagine its got something thats been installed
since.

The only references I can find to this error are regarding Internet Explorer
and are caused by installed Toolbars (this server has no toolbars installed.
