Login Failed - not accepting parameters

I recently installed ms sql server Developer Edtion 2000 on an advanced
server 2003 OS.
I am not trying to get a Beta Contact Management System called Wired Contact
Enterprise to link up to the sql server.
I have not made any databases....I am just trying to establish a connection.
BUT, for some reason the connection login is failing...see here for error
message:
http://www.catamarans.com/images/screenshot/LoginFailed.gif
ADO Connection Exception: Login Failed for user 'sa': Reason: Not associated
with a trusted SQL Server Connection Alias: WCE
I have tried changing the SA passord in sql server under 'security' for the
default MASTER database...but still pick up error above.
When I did the install - excuse me - I think I may have selected Windows
Auth Mode.....is there a way to fix the problem?
Thanks
Jason
