Our database is set up as follows:
1) SQL Server Agent service is set to automatic and started
2) Enterprise Manager has 2 scheduled jobs:
- A full backup is done nightly at 10PM. Previous backup file is copied to
an archive folder first.
- log files are copied to the backup file hourly
3) Both current and archived backup files are backed up to tape every
morning at 3AM.
If you want, I can send or post the SQL code that is used. I confess that
this was created automatically by our vendor's software.
I use Enterprise Manager to restore a backup manually.
