Re: SQL2005 RTM install problems.

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Tim,

Since nobody else seems to be diving in here I will make a couple of
suggestions that you have, perhaps, already explored.

Assuming you extracted from an ISO image I would suggest re-extracting
then trying to re-install. There were a couple of instances during the
CTP process where extraction was the problem and it gave errors which
weren't easy to make sense of.

If that doesn't work I would repeat the download. I think for some
editions there are CD and DVD options. If so, then try the other
option.

Yes, I am slightly clutching at straws but I installed RTM (Enterprise
Edition) on Windows 2003 SP1 without any problems (at least none
disclosed by initial testing).

The other option is that your problems are specific to installing over
SQL Server 2000, which I can't comment on from an informed
perspective.
