Still showing older version after SP3a install

To resolve the security issue described in MS Security Bulletin MS02-061
(Q316333) the article stated I needed to update my installation of SQL Server
2000 to SP2. The article also stated, "All of the changes included in the
re-released bulletin are included in SQL Server 2000 SP3a and MSDE 2000 SP3a.
Based on this information I downloaded and installed SQL 2000 Server SP3a
via the instructions found at:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=90dcd52c-0488-4e46-afbf-acace5369fa3&DisplayLang=en

Logged in as the local administrator I Installed Database Components SP3a
(SQL2KSP3.exe), then Analysis Services Components SP3a (SQL2KASP3.exe). I
then rebooted the server (even though I was not prompted to). After the
successful reboot, I logged back in (as the local administrator) and
installed SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE) (SQL2kdesksp3.exe). I then
successfully rebooted the server again. After the reboot I ran the SQL
command to determine the installed version of SQL Server (from MS
Knowledgebase Article #321185). The output reported an outdated version (the
same version as before I ran the executables). The command reports I'm
running the following version:

RTM 2000.80.194.0

It should be noted that when running all three executables all three
completed with a notification of successful completion. Also, none of the
executables prompted me to reboot (or for anything else for that matter).

Did I do something wrong? Am I missing something? Or is that command just
giving me bogus output?

Please help!!
