I ran into similar problem. I cannot find the CP 936 that was chosen in
sql server 7 when i try to setup sql server 2000. now i end up with
chinese characters that display as "???". :(
Even if I have chinese fonts installed in the OS, and chose Chinese PRC
as the collation during sql server 2000 install, and specified a
chinese font in the results text displayed for query analyzer, that
didn't solve the problem when i restore the database file in use from
sql server 7 into 2000.
