sql server 2000 developer edition

What is the real answer to what version of OS sql server
2000 developer edition will run on - specifically xp home
and xp pro.

Even on Microsoft web site sometimes it says it will only
run on 2000 server and NT other times it says xp home and
pro.

Does anyone out there have sql server 2000 developer
edition loaded and running OK on XP Pro?
