I have no idea of server setup and networking. Only very
basic idea of SQL.
I recently bought (standard edition with 10 client
licenses). My system is XP Pro. I see on the box that
this includes the personal edition which is can be
installed on XP (I think).
What I need is simply to access a database (currently 5
users but may increase) either locally or remotely.
So my question is
Should i simply install the personal edition only on the
XP will that setup the SQL server. Will that solve my
above mentioned need(If I need to be more specific please
let me know what other information you would require).
If I still need to use the standard edition then which
server software would be best suited to me as I have only
four local computers 3 running win xP home and other pro
I have checked of sys requirements from this link
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?
url=/library/en-us/architec/8_ar_ts_7eur.asp?frame=true
where it indicates that Standard can't be installed on XP
pro
I only have 4 computers setup so it's server capabilities
won't be of much use for now.
I don't have much idea of SQL server setup or of
networking so please explain in detail if possible or
direct me to some site for more detailes of XP and
Personal edition installation
Thanks a bunch
