    My SQL server is currently running service pack 3 with
    only the default instance. I am getting ready to install
    a second instance of SQL. So, my questions are:

    1) Will I need to patch this instance of SQL when I get it
    installed or will it pick up the current service pack from
    the default instance?

    2) Can I run each instance on a different service pack if
    the need arises?

    3) If I need to install the service packs on the new
    instance, will service pack 3 cover service packs one and
    two or will I need to install sp's 1, 2, and 3.
